When Elizabeth Schilling creates, she starts with an idea or a feeling. She begins in the media of her choice and the artwork writes its story through her hands. The female form occurs often throughout her work. She works in fresh soothing colors in a surreal style with symbolism in unexpected places. Her art is feminine and flowery but her quirky an macabre sense of style engages the viewer to read the story further. The longer you look, the more you see. Her art has been displayed and sold around OKC and beyond at locations such as Gallery View 28 at Stratta Tower in OKC, The Oil Center, Art Central Gallery at Quail Springs. She is a published book illustrator and has painted many murals in the metro.
“Art is a way of recreating your world and yourself into anything that you desire.
I don't create the artwork I begin, it creates itself.
I always feel like each painting I do is my best and my favorite.
Sometimes an idea will be so dynamic that I have no choice but to create it.
I regret that for the last 20 years I did little art for myself. This is my time now.
I am inspired by the art of the Great Masters especially their hyper realistic portrayal of women.
